Allen Johnson

Mopar® Dodge Avenger NHRA Pro Stock driver Allen Johnson has Dodge and Mopar in his blood — his formative years were spent watching his father, Roy, compete in Mopar-powered Dodge vehicles in the IHRA and NHRA Super Stock classes. Allen will continue to carry the Mopar and Dodge banner for the Johnson family in 2011 as he embarks on his 16th season behind the wheel of a Mopar Dodge Pro Stocker.

Johnson debuted in the NHRA Pro Stock class in 1996 in a Dodge Avenger. He recorded his first win in 1999 at Richmond, finishing in the top 10 of the point standings for the first time in his career that year. He claimed another NHRA “Wally” trophy in 2002 at Atlanta and added a third career victory in 2005 at Phoenix.

The J&J Racing team owner and driver visited the winner’s circle next in 2006 at Seattle and earned two No. 1 Qualifier Awards for the season. He also finished sixth in the point standings, sparking a string a five consecutive top-10 points finishes.

Johnson earned one race win during the 2007 season, but it came at a big one: The Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals in Denver, Colo. He also qualified for the inaugural NHRA Countdown to 1 playoffs in 2007 and finished fourth in the standings, the highest points finish of his career.

The Greeneville, Tenn. native qualified for the NHRA Countdown playoffs in 2008 and 2009. He hoisted the winner’s trophy twice in 2009, scoring a second victory at the Mopar Mile-High Nationals.

Johnson debuted a new Mopar Dodge Avenger Pro Stock car in 2010 and powered to one win — yet another at his primary sponsor’s headline event, the Mopar Mile-High Nationals. The triumph was his second straight at Denver and third in four years. Johnson owned the qualifying charts in 2010, seizing a career-high eight No. 1 Qualifier Awards, and kept his streak of Countdown playoff appearances alive, finishing sixth in the standings.

The Pro Stock veteran will break in a new chassis on his Mopar Dodge Avenger in 2011, with his father Roy once again supplying the Mopar HEMI® engines. The father-and-son duo enters the year with one overriding goal — capture their first Pro Stock title with Dodge and Mopar.
